During that span, his teams have posted a record of 209-142 with back-to-back conference championships, and NCAA Division III Regional playoff appearances in both 2004, 2005 and a SCIAC Championship in 2008. In the University of La Verne's 2009 campaign coach Winterburn reached a milestone 200th career victory at the University of La Verne. His teams have reached the top 20 in the NCAA Division III polls for 4 consecutive years. The "Leopards" have had 23 All-Conference selections since 2001 with 2 former "Leos" awarded Conference Player of the Year. In 2005, Coach was named SCIAC Coach of the Year. Coach brings a wealth of team, educational and camp experience to a successful baseball academy that develops young players.

In the spring season of 2000, "Burn" guided Azusa Pacific University to a 29-19 record and second place GSAC finish. For coach, this capped an 11 year career at the school, where for 10 seasons he worked und the tutledge of GSAC coaching legend Tony Barbone. During that span, Azusa captured 7 conference championships and 3 second place finishes as well as 11 consecutive playoff appearances.

Coach also spent 2 seasons at Citrus Community College under California Community College Hall of Fame inductee Skip Claprood, one of those seasons being spent as the Interim Head Coach.

With his primary strength in pitching and catching, 8 of his former catchers have signed and played professional baseball, along with several pitchers, including Scott Lindeen, his most recent draft pick of the Florida Marlins.

Much of what coach gives to his players comes from his experience as a teacher. He is currently an Associate Professor in Movement and Sport Science at ULV. He specializes in Motor Development where he says, he has been able to develop his techniques in teaching kids of all ages. He says, "understanding how people really move and develop through the stages of growth has provided a loose philosophy for us in teaching the most appropriate fundamentals. Higher levels of any sport require a thorough understanding and feel for fundamentals. There are absolutely no shortcuts. Kids who become adults get great at physical skills like hitting because they are able to combine their ability with enthusiasm and good, old fashioned practice!"

During Burns 22 year collegiate coaching career, he spent 13 years coaching baseball camps in and around the highly competitive Orange County area. In his 10 years as a camp director working with kids ranging from 5 to 18 years of age. Coach says , "I have seen literally thousands of campers over the years, now. Many of them have gone on to become successful High School, College and even professional baseball players. Some have even made it to the major leagues. One thing that is the absolute truth, is that all of them started out at some point, usually at a young age with a desire to learn and compete. They come to learn from coaches who provide the knowledge they need to develop. The really high acheivers are the ones who are able to not only listen, but incorporate what they learn. These are the kids who are willing to do what others their age are not".

The last 22 years in the camp business have been an education in itself for Coach. Says Coach Burn, "At first, it was a good summer job that ran for 10 weeks. Then it became something I wanted to do for life. As a result, I spent a lot of those years learning how to put together a camp of our own. Being a dad myself, I wanted a place for my kids to learn from some of the best coaches around the area. I wanted an environment where they could learn the game the right way and enjoy it with their friends and other kids from different areas. Most importantly, I wanted to provide a place for the kids in our local communities to learn this great game. We have started that here, and now we are in a position to do just these types of things. I'm really excited about where we are headed!"

In the past 9 years, Coach Winterburn's Leopard Baseball Skills camps have been very successful at providing a place where kids develop their skills, no matter what level of experience. "Now we have established the All Out Baseball Academy, This gives us the ability to expand ourselves to more of the community." We'll see you there!
